SPRINGO Challenge!

SPRINGO Challenge!

This week we invite you to participate in our SPRINGO challenge! To participate you can download and print one of the SPRINGO cards. Keep track of what items you are able to find. You might choose to take photos of some of the items you find and share them with us through the Facebook group - Nature (home)School Support, or write a list. Set a goal for your family: will your goal be to get 5 in a row (horizontally, vertically or diagonally)? Or you will you aim to complete a full card?

Spring Nature Table

Spring Nature Table

Out my kitchen window this morning, I can see a couple of robins hopping around on the ground. Every so often they stop and tilt their heads towards the ground. They remain still. Then quick as a flash they bob their heads down to the ground and come up with an insect or worm in their beak! I have been looking around my yard to see where they will build their nest this year. When you are outside today, pay attention to what the birds are up to.

Waldorf-Inspired Wednesday

Waldorf-Inspired Wednesday

Mrs. Thaw swept most of that new snow away again and I can see the grass in my yard. In amongst all the browns and dull greens, I can see the bright green of new shoots. Look closely can you find some new grass shoots too? It won’t be long before the Root Children start to push up their flowers from the earth.

Baking Day!

Baking Day!

Tuesday is baking day! Get out the measuring cups and spoons, mixing bowls, and baking pans. Not only is baking a wonderful sensory experience for children (smells, textures, tastes), it is also a rich opportunity to engage your child in authentic work while they learn about amounts and quantities. Filling your kitchen and home with the delicious scent of baking is also good for the soul!

Getting Started: A Daily Rhythm

Getting Started: A Daily Rhythm

RHYTHM - it is what guides us through the day and holds the children in a sense of security. When children know what to expect, they experience less stress and are able to be more present in the moment. In the absence of a routine, children may exhibit more challenging behaviours. You have probably noticed this at some point along your parenting journey (maybe very recently)!
